Spring Newsletter 2022
Spring has sprung here in North Carolina and we are relishing the longer days and warmer temperatures. April is an exciting time across the state as designers and other industry professionals from all over the country descend on High Point. We squeezed in a trip to Charlotte for an educational event benefitting the Mint Museum and celebrated our talented team of women at a gorgeous and delicious luncheon at West Queen Studios in Hillsborough. We hope you enjoy the beautiful photography from our lunch, savor a vibrant appetizer from our featured chef, and learn how our field trip to Charlotte helped inspire our own design event coming to Chapel Hill in October!
Debra and Anne
We have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the talent of creating beautiful spaces and events. On this lucky afternoon in Hillsborough, we were hosted by the very creative Morgan Moylan at her floral laboratory and home, West Queen Studios. The screened porch and patio provided a stunning backdrop for us to sit down at the perfectly orchestrated table designed by The Curated Table’s Debra Zinn and Laura Montross and enjoy the delectable offerings of Chef Gavriel Dusek from High Country Culinaire. You can live vicariously through our meal by savoring the fabulous photos of Anna Routh Barzin and the lovely watercolor menu by Myra Jester of Well Addressed Caligraphy. Our friend, Sheri Castle, joined us at the table, too, and regaled us with her entertaining story-telling and exciting news of the upcoming season of The Key Ingredient with Sheri Castle on PBS-NC.
GAVRIEL DUSEK
If your mouth was watering looking at the photos from our spring luncheon, you have Gavriel Dusek of High Country Culinaire to blame (or thank!). Gavriel is young but don’t let her age fool you; she is already quite accomplished and her culinary talents belie her age. Gavriel trained at Rebel Kitchen in Knoxville, TN, where she also worked for A Dopo. She most recently honed her skills at the highly regarded Blackberry Mountain in Walland, TN. She is currently catering private events across the Southeast and has graciously shared her recipe for her delectable Spinach Ricotta Tartlets!
ASHLEY WHITTAKER
In early April, we headed back to Charlotte for the Mint Museum Auxilliary’s Spring Symposium featuring designer Ashley Whittaker. Ashley was a riveting speaker and informed and entertained with her presentation at the Charlotte Country Club. We already had our wheels turning on how to bring a similar event to the Triangle and this event really strengthened our resolve.
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!
We are beyond thrilled to share our newly created design event coming to Chapel Hill this fall. Design Matters...inspiration for the design-minded will feature designer Shelley Johnstone Paschke and her beautiful new book, A Loving Table, and will benefit UNC Children’s Comprehensive Pediatric Rehabilitation Center.
Stay tuned for our summer newsletter where will share more details on this educational, entertaining, and meaningful event.
Cheers!
